Makeup: Complimentary Mary Kay Makeover

Makeup Glam: Mary Kay Complimentary Makeover

I had the pleasure of being invited to a complimentary makeover by Mary Kay Consultant Rochelle McLean, after attending the All About Hair Expo. This occasion took place at the Mary Kay Success Studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was a lovely pinked out studio and Rochelle was an excellent consultant that gave great advice on skincare and the benefits of using Mary Kay. Here’s a quick video capture and detailed listing of my experience.

The makeover process:

First we started with:

Satin Hands- this hand scrub comes in a two part set to buff and remove dead and dry skin cells and leave hands baby soft and moisturized. Retails for $34.
My hands were left soft and smooth; great my hand eczema. L

Then we were able to choose a cleanser for our individual skin type and needs.
TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser -for combination to oily skin; it cleanses, exfoliates and freshens. Retails for $20.

My face was left clean and refreshed.

Next was time for a mask of choice (non mandatory); I chose the microdermabrasion mask to give me smooth glowing skin. This product has the “key-exfoliating ingredient used by dermatologists.” Two part set retails for $50 (available separately).

I like the way the exfoliating beads or “key ingredient” felt on my face, and I definitely tried to make sure I got use of it! J (Compared to dermatology treatment which can costly) K And my face was left very smooth and a little bit more glowing.

Followed by the TimeWise Moisturizer to put moisture back into the skin after the extraction of impurities from the mask. Retails for $24

We also applied Satin Lips to buff dry skin and moisturize for soft kissable lips!

Now that my face is clean, smooth and prepped it was time for the makeup!

I was matched with the Bronze 4 in the Mineral Powder Foundation. I loved the natural finish and look it gave my face! It was perfect match and great for individuals like myself that don’t wear a lot of makeup or wants a simple and quick out the door routine! Retails for $18, (pocket friendly for us divas on a budget!)

After I was used their Lash Primer to intensify volume and length of lashes; retails at $15
Then the I applied the Ultimate Mascara for volume; this retails for $15.
I liked the way my lashes looked I could definitely see the difference in before and after.

Next I was apply to use the sample color card that came with a trio of natural gold tone eye shadow for natural look, a mineral Golden Copper cheek color, and red lipstick. (See video)

I also tried on the Fancy Nancy NouriShine Plus Lip gloss which I loved for any everyday simple and sassy look, it was silky and non sticky, retails for $14.
And I also sampled the Hibiscus Crème Lipstick!, it retails for $15. I’ll be doing a review on this lippy along with other samples I collected! J

I was gifted an eye shadow for listing some of my faboulos friends for their own compliementary makeover!

I was entered in a raffle for $100 giveaway so my hopes are up that I’ll win! J

I had a great time and look forward to booking a party to and doing future reviews and events with Rochelle McLean and the Mary Kay Success Studio!

Wash Routine using Oh So Natural

Wash day for some us Naturalistas is a day we dread or day we enjoy. Its full of washing, detangling, combing, brushing, conditioning, rinsing, styling and the list goes on…So here you’ll find my routine for my typical wash days. My regimen is very simplistic, I only use Oh So Natural with the exception of eco styler. I honestly don't do too much to my hair, I have gone from wash and goes everyday to stretching twistouts up to 2 weeks! Remember to customize and make your regimens  uniquely  yours!

To get started:

1.                  Pre-poo treatment (conditioning treatment done before cleansing or shampooing to add extra moisture to hair)

a.       Apply and let sit for at least 10 min

b.      Quick Recipe: mix honey and olive oil together or try Black Tea rinse to help with shedding!

2.                  Wash/Cleanse with Oh So Natural Deep Cleansing Clay Mask

a.       Apply to hair in small workable sections by massaging into roots and smoothing to ends

b.      Let sit 15-30 min then thoroughly rinse clean

c.       This is a creamy bentonite clay wash that gently removes product buildup by absorbing toxins, impurities, and build up without stripping the hair like some shampoos and sulfates. It pH balances, helps detangle, define curls and condition hair.

3.                  Condition

a.       I usually skip this part, since my hair is left moisturized after using the clay mask

b.      Mid week I overnight condtion with a plastic cap and rinse/cowash the next day

4.                  Style- LOC Method ( During this phase I finger detangle and may use a denman brush to clump and define my curls)

a.       Part hair into 4 sections

                                                              i.      Separate into smaller workable sections

b.      Apply liquid (water) as needed

c.       Massage Stimulating Growth oil into scalp and smooth from root to ends

                                                              i.      This oil is blend of castor, olive, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin E and essential oils to help promote hair growth

d.      Smooth in Whipped Crème Brulee root to ends (focusing on ends)

                                                              i.      Creamy whipped shea butter that penetrates and seals hair follicles packed with nutrients and vitamins that give hair shine and moisture

e.       Add styler- Curl Glaze smooth root to ends

                                                              i.      Made  fresh from flaxseeds that gives hair soft hold without the crunch and promotes hair growth

f.       Finish with style of choice (wash and go, twists out, bantu knots, etc.)

5.                  Daily/Nightly Maintenance

a.       I alternate between refreshing at night using the LOC method and re-twisting or simply putting my hair in a Pineapple (high ponytail)

Protective Styling 101

What is protective styling and what does it to for your hair, you may ask? Well protective styling is quite simple in terms; it is styling the hair in low manipulation styles to protect the ends of the hair shaft and help retain length; Great to add to fall and winter routines. There are many styles to choose and try! Such as:

Updos

Twists

Buns

Braids
Pictured w/ @_Krystal_lite !

Weaves/Wigs/Extensions
Loved Brandy's Side part long bob!

Turbans/Hats/Beanies

. Be mindful to use caution and care by  make sure that hair is moisturized and nourished,  hair ties, pins, braids, stitching, etc are not too tight or pulling.  Try using the LOC (Liquid.Oil.Cream) Method with Oh So Natural by China Ashleigh or other fave products!
